The main motive of the Mumbai terror attack was to divide and rule. However, their plan fell on their face when over 10,000 people, including me, marched to the Gateway of India highlighting the undying solidarity. I’m proud to be a part of the wave of this Indian spirit, replete with emotions, anti-politician feelings, all blue and white collar youth, and the show of power and patriotism. This was the first time in the history of India that people in such large number came together openly, contrary to the actual motives of the terrorists. And that too without a single hired-political-goon.
Old, young, women, children, Hindus, and Muslims, carrying candles, joined hands and waved the Tricolor. The message was clear and simple. We are all fed up from our incompetent politicians. People in the anti-terror rally were also shouting slogans against all politicians and parties, including Congress and BJP. Many people were distributing pamphlets, taking petitions, signatures and carrying banners and placards with strong messages - “Enough of terrorism”, “Let us kill terrorism Halla Boll!”, “Politicians get out” and “We want actions not words”. A street play was also been played.
For the first time I saw a group of Sikhs distributing tea and water and organizing a “langar”, not organized for any religional cause, but for people protesting against our political system.
These are the real people of India. This is real India.
Update: Just after the rally, CM, Mumbai, Deskmukh has resigned. This is third minister and I feel its only tip of iceberg.

This is indeed an revolution. Politicians would be really afraid now, its becoming more harder to break the unity now.
This is like a silver light amongst a very dark cloud. A united India.
Mumbai is not alone in this regard. Concerned citizens came out in large number in other metros of the country to voice their resentment against the ugly politicians, irresoective of their hues and colours. It is an important and significant development.
But at the same time, it sounds a warning bell for the democracy which we nourished in this country for the past six decades though at a higher price. Apoliticalisation of the country does not augers well with the democratic spirits which all peace loving, freedom living people should aspire. It seems we have been landed in the catch-22 situation.
On the one hand we have thorough corrupt and selffish politicians around us while on the other hand the grave danger to the democratic polity is written large on the walls.
This is a new beginning! I bet the politicians have taken a serious note of this show of strength and solidarity by the Mumbaikars.
This revolution will bring a major change in the working culture of the politicians. Now they can’t go on with the laid back attitude. We demand action and they got to provide it.
We cannot join the protest physically but we totally support Mumbaikars.
After watching videos, its really overwhelming to see so many people
unite not for some political reason but for united India.
This day will indeed go down in the History books.

While reading the article i could feel the power of 10000 united citizens of India. We have population more than 100 crores. Imagine the power if the whole country gets united. Mentally all of us are together and protesting against the system in every possible way that we can. Wish we could be physically together and protest in front of the parliament in Delhi and bash the root of corruption there.
Reading about united India, brought tears to my eyes. Why cant we always stay united this way otherwise as well? Why only at the time of crisis? We all know that a true indian never wants to see violence around him/her. Why cant we stop reacting to the riots spread by the mean politicians on the name of caste , religion etc? We all know that these communal violence is a method of politicians to gain votes and stay in power. People, we have to unite internally first, then no terrorist will dare to enter our territory.
I can understand what indians are feeling these days. There is a limit of tolerance and with these kind of protests, one thing is clear that indians have lost their patience. History clearly shows that such revolutions are bound to bring change. Our support is with the indian citizens.
‘Fight terrorism to the core’ seems to be the ultimate motive of the indian public, at the moment. The number of terror attacks faced by the public of india in the past one year, is shocking. You guys need to bring a revolution in the country. All the best!
There is still hope as few people in our country are patriotic. It is our duty to recognize them and make them work for our nation. They should be the one in power. The leaders(Rajiv Gandhi, Lal Bahadr Shastri, etc) who really could do something for India were killed because the anti social elements felt threatened by them. And now all the corrupt lot is left who is busy making political profits out of each tragedy being faced by the civilians.
See what happens is that we usually forget that this can happen with us as well. We simply thank god that we and our known ones are safe this time. But for how long? How long can we hide inside our houses or inside so called safer cities. If we do not do something today, tomorrow they’ll capture the whole
nation. Then where will we run?
Three cheers for religious toleration and brotherhood. We will not be manipulated by hate mongering terrorists. People of Mumbai the world salutes you!
hmm thanks it was cool
