Yesterday thousands of common citizens of Mumbai rallied to the Gateway of India. It was site to see common people everywhere. Some where chanting slogans, some were distributing pamphlets, some were holding candles while some were waving the national flag.
All had one common message that India has had enough of its corrupt politicians and the people of them consider them as the real terrorists. The sentiment was coming from all quarters Hindus, Muslims, Christians, young, old, man, women, children, rich, poor. I even saw a group ladies in their mid 40s who stay in my locality (Chembur) in a local Bus going to Gateway of India. On an average people would have traveled for about 1 1/2 hours to reach Gateway it was a hot and humid day and I could see people drenched in sweat, tired but all with a smile on their face and a resolve to see change in the country.
They were shouting slogans against BJP, Congress, RJD, JD almost all political parties and against all the political leaders. They were not blaming the terrorists or Pakistan but the corrupt politicians who fail to defend the country. Some of them had formed human chains to blog people from getting near the Taj hotel. While the police and local security forces were just acting like spectators happy that the people have stood up to fight for their rights. The citizens were helping each other helping people get across the rally in a peaceful way, providing flags, candles, pamphlets organizing signature campaigns.

What touch me the most was the organization of a Langar by the Sikhs many Sikhs were distribution cold water and hot tea free of cost to all the people at they rally. A Langar is the practice of eating food prepared by a community kitchen distributed free of cost and eaten by everyone as equals. People of all casts, religions, race get together and share the food in the name of god. However it is probably for the first time that a Langar was organized not in the name of religion or celebrating any religious festival but for ordinary citizens. I could see the smile on peoples faces. And now have a 100% believe that the people of India will win the war on terror.
This march to Gateway of India is historic and one of the biggest mobilization of citizens since Independence. I am glad I have got an opportunity to be a part of history. I am sure that generations ahead will be reading about this in their history books and I will gladly say my grandchildren I WAS THERE!

Bravo! Hats off to you guys.
Wish I could have been present there. But all of us from the other parts of the nation are with you, with all our heart and mind. Hope this revolution soon brings a positive change in the society.
Amen!
United India! A dream come true.
To this i would like to add that we are proud of the decisions taken by the Indian muslims to not to let the burial of the terrorists happen in India. They have clearly mentioned that if a terrorist do not have a religion then he should not be given a proper religious burial. This is the spirit that we need in the heart and mind of all the people across the globe to fight against terrorism. Let their bodies be eaten by the crows in the jungle.
What I suggest is that we should stop voting for these corrupt politicians till the time they come up with a young, talented, educated and intelligent
leader. We should simply as these old faces to sit back at home and do some meditation and prayers, which better suit their age. They are the one who
encouraged violence in India by making caste and religion as the medium to get votes.
It is indeed a hostorical development. But even at the cost of being called and dubbed sceptical, I would like to sound a note of caution. The move remained an urban one in which urbane participated with gusto. The middle class every where in world has been in the vanguard of such movement. This was no exception. But the historical fact is that the middle class always exhibit treacherous charater.
What about the vast majority of the population of the country, living in countrysides, villages, towns and cities. They remain divided on caste, community and regional lines. Unless they are educated politically (rpt politically) such pious movement such as in Mumbai on December 03, 2008 cannot progress much.
The need of the hour is education. Unfortunately, in our country people want to die as a rich man but refuse to live as a rich man. There is genuine dearth of philonthrophists in this country. Do we have Carnegie, Rockfeller, Bill Gates and lately Warren Buffett? No. Luxmi Niwas Mittal of ”Cold Steel” may earn the sobriquet of ’obscene’by a U.K. newspaper when he spent millions and millions on the marriage of his daughter. Mukesh Ambani may construct a tall building at an exorbitant cost to house his wife. The sole exception is Anil Agarwala of Vedanta group who is investing millions to raise a world class university in Orissa. We need several hundred Anil Agarwala in a bid to get the population educated and keep this greedy class of politicians in the country.
I remember an old saying from my school days “UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL” and now can feel it from yesterdays rally. We hope to be united the same way and fight back terrorism and corruption which has disgusted all of us. The true Mumbaikar spirit could be seen yesterday in the city which it self is an example for the entire nation to fight together. It was a great scene to watch few men distributing free beverages to all of them who had participated. If we stand united and fight today, I am sure would have a better place for our generations to come.
