As we all know all major airlines across the world are going through some really tough times there have been cuts announced across the board. But one thing which has an immediate impact on all the passengers is the food served on these giant birds of steel. The quality of the food served on Airlines is something which during good times or bad always has been questionable.
These meals vary widely in quality and quantity across different airline companies and classes of travel. They range from a simple beverage in short-haul economy class to a seven-course gourmet meal in long-haul first class. During good times or bad somehow it looks the me that the last thing in the mind of Airlines management is the quality of food served in the Economy class something which most of us frequent. Tasteless gravies, stale breads, Deserts which smell of skunk are very often put in decorated trays and served to passengers. Most who don’t have much of an option consume this and the few who complain are given the look that if they are so particular about food they should get their own or travel business class. While there are various companies which provide catering services to their Airlines each claiming to be the best the quality/quality of the food does not realy have anything to do with these caterers. They just cater to the taste/requirements of the airlines. Airlines decide of the menu, quantity, quality of food. Also one has heard of many stories of people finding various foreign objects in their food. I still remember in 2004 A passenger travelling from found a dead baby lizard in the
dinner packet served to him other passengers travelling on the flight stopped eating their food as well after coming to know about the lizard.
Airline food is essentially leftovers: It is prepared 24 to 48 hours in advance, wrapped in plastic, stuck in a refrigerator, and hastily and inexpertly reheated before serving. But why am I suddenly talking about bad airline food ?? As we all know this is something which will never improved.
Actually an interesting news cough my attention and looks like for the first time an Airline Head has acknowledge the customer complain on bad food. A passenger who wrote an amusing complaint letter to Virgin Atlantic has been invited by Sir Richard Branson to select the food and wines for future Virgin flights. How smart is that..... soon if you complain about the pilot and the airlines might just come ask you to fly the plane! Really bizarre... what do u think??
